About John Strickland

John Strickland is an Orthodox priest and the author of a four-volume history entitled Paradise and Utopia: The Rise and Fall of What the West Once Was. Its third volume, The Age of Utopia: Christendom from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution, tells the story of how secular humanism displaced traditional Christianity to become the dominant force of a brilliant but spiritually unanchored culture that, among other things, gave rise to the romantic movement. The author lives in western Puget Sound with his wife and five children and blogs about modern Christendom at johnstrickland.org.
