Those of us who seek to preserve the Good, the True, and the Beautiful are aware, as the old saying goes, that “there be dragons” in the world who seek to destroy the invaluable inheritance that is Western Civilization.
Perhaps this has never been truer than it is today in our hyper-polarized world, where conservatives are now often branded “haters” and even “traitors” and “insurrectionists” by those who want to throw overboard the Permanent Things and build a progressive utopia.
At The Imaginative Conservative, we seek to preserve the American Republic and the Western Tradition on a daily basis, through the publication of essays that reflect the best of conservative thought, past and present. Since our inception more than a decade ago, our 8,100 essays have been read more than 23 million times.
We recognize that Western Civilization has been far from perfect, but also that it manifests so much of the Good, True, and Beautiful whose source is our Creator. It is also the source of its own reformation. As Imaginative Conservative co-founder Dr. Bradley J. Birzer has put it:
Every generation must judge the inherited goods—spiritually and materially—from the perspective of prudence, the classical virtue of choosing good from evil. When each generation receives the gifts of previous generations, it must reform, abolish, or pass on what has been given. It judges inherited goods by the norms of good and evil. Does the inheritance leaven or crush the dignity of the human person? One must judge by the lights that Providence has given each person.
“Fairy tales,” G.K. Chesterton tells us, “do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.” We too can fight the dragons in our lives with joy and hope.
Let us stand together! Mindful of the fact that seven is the Biblical number of perfection, we are seeking to raise $7,000 in 7 days. Will you join us in battling the dragons of the modern world by supporting our mission and making a contribution today?
In Gratitude,

Well said, that each generation must choose what to keep and discard. The perils of letting young minds choose are they often do not realize the long-term consequences of their choices. If they choose to abdicate some of their freedoms, the chance is the freedoms will not return.. Just like a tax or a government agency never goes away.
