About Stringfellow Barr

Stringfellow Barr (1897–1982) was a historian, author, and president of St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, where he, together with Scott Buchanan, instituted the Great Books curriculum. He was the editor of Virginia Quarterly Review from 1931–1937. His books include The Will of Zeus, The Mask of Jove, and The Pilgrimage of Western Man.
