Barbara Elliott

The ever elegant and thoughtful Barbara Elliott (yes, OUR Barbara) was on the Mike Church show today. Congrats to Barbara for sharing her always inspiring insights on the nature of American character and community, and congrats to Mike Church for having such good taste in his choice of guests.

We hope you will join us in The Imaginative Conservative community. The Imaginative Conservative is an online journal for those who seek the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. We address culture, liberal learning, politics, political economy, literature, the arts, and the American Republic in the tradition of Russell Kirk, T.S. Eliot, Edmund Burke, Irving Babbitt, Paul Elmer More, Wilhelm Roepke, Robert Nisbet, M.E. Bradford, Eric Voegelin, Christopher Dawson, and other leaders of Imaginative Conservatism (Visit our Bookstore to find books by/about these men) .

We address a wide variety of major issues including: What is the essence of conservatism? What was the role of faith in the American Founding? Is liberal learning still possible in the modern academy? Should conservatives and libertarians be allies? What is the proper role for the American Republic in spreading ordered liberty to other cultures/nations?

  1. What a broadcast! This is precisely how Imaginative Conservatives can shake people out of decay and torpor, and Barbara's strategy must be considered for other imperiled spheres. It is unopposable, not only because it is completely true but also because it gores nobody's political ox nor upsets their ideological preconceptions. Ideologies tend to biodegrade once people clamber out of their parlours and out of their self-obsessed personalities and muck in with real people with real problems. Once they do that, empathy generates Love and Love tends to clear a space for other good values. Barbara is too beautiful and elegant for mere radio alone: television is needed too, but bravo and many thanks!

  2. Thank you for your kind commendation in posting this, Brad. It was a wonderful opportunity to be on Mike Church's show, and my email inbox is full of reactions to it. Now other radio hosts are getting in touch to do interviews as well. You were the one who opened the door for Winston and me to talk on the air with the "King Dude." Look at what you put into motion!
